Management of submandibular abscess with candidiasis complications

Submandibular space is part of the deep neck fascial spaces, bordered by oral mucosa mouth floor on above and superficial layer cervical fascia bottom, as it extends from mandible to hyoid bone. frequently involves odontogenic infections, which can cause significant mortality morbidity. Open surgical incision drainage are treatment choice for submandibular abscesses. This a case report 47-years-old female with main complaint mass right that she has experienced 2 weeks. The release pus felt flow down throat. Physical examination revealed soft, tender 55 mm x 20 diameter in region. Oral status patient presence candidiasis too. There was no complication trismus, swallowing pain or paralysis lower lip. patient’s temperature 38.5⁰C. Laboratory examinations showed raised white blood cell count slightly decreased albumin level. Intraoral swelling redness gingiva upper middle incisor were observed. successfully treated abscess drainage, antibiotics nystatin.
